Movie sound technician, Jack Terry, must create realistic sounds for his current project, a low-budget thriller. In particular, the producer wants good quality screaming. Jack takes his equipment and hits the streets to record various sounds. Suddenly, he sees a car plunge into a creek. Jack rescues a young woman from the sinking car. While at the hospital he discover the dead driver was the governor. The rescued woman is an escort named Sally. The governor's people want Jack to keep quiet about Sally's involvement in the accident. Jack realizes that he recorded sounds of the accident. He clearly hears a gunshot, which blew out the car's tires. He now knows the governor was murdered. He decides to uncover the plot despite the dangers.
