In a West Philadelphia café, the quirky customers go about their normal activities on a day like any other. Each deals with problems and desires that don't seem all that out of the ordinary. But one customer suddenly receives a message on his computer from an unknown woman who tells him he is just a character in a computer simulation game she is playing. The ensemble of colorful characters play out several separate stories that are woven together in a tapestry of human drama. Some are light and heart-warming, some more intense. As one character investigates the possibility that it's all just a computer game, the café becomes a microcosm of postmodern society in which even the nature of reality and free will are examined.
